Tulsa Women's Tennis Falters at LSU, 4-1

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The 25th-ranked LSU Tigers won three singles matches as well as the doubles point to hand the 34th-ranked Tulsa women's tennis team a 4-1 setback in Baton Rouge in a late match on Friday.
LSU (10-3) opened the match with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles position to capture the doubles point. At the top doubles spot, the Tigers' 20th-ranked tandem of Bruna Colosio and Rocio Fantilli upset Tulsa's 17th-ranked duo of senior Jennifer DeSpain and junior Jana Sedivec, 8-3. LSU also claimed the No. 2 slot to secure the doubles point. The Hurricane (8-3) avoided a shutout in doubles when the freshmen combination of Mariana Barrios and Zoe Buhagiar won an 8-6 decision over Lauren Haddix and Mandy Rice.
In singles, LSU continued to roll as Colosio, the nation's 43rd-ranked singles player, eased past TU junior Bianca Posada, 6-3, 6-0, at the top singles position. The Tigers increased its lead to 3-0 when Amy McIlhaney slipped past Barrios at the sixth slot in the singles lineup, 7-5, 6-2.
Tulsa got on the board late in the match when DeSpain downed Tami Botts at the No. 4 spot, 6-3, 6-4, but LSU captured the decisive fourth and final point of the match when Haddix topped Sedivec at the No. 3 slot, 7-6, 6-2.
