Tulsa, Oklahoma - The 33rd-ranked Tulsa women's tennis team captured five of six singles matches en route to a 5-1 dominating performance against the University of Houston at the Metropolitan Racket Club in Houston, Texas.

With the win, Tulsa improves to 10-4 overall this season, while Houston drops to 4-10 for the 2001 campaign. TU has also won two out of its last three matches against the Cougars, including two straight with today's victory. The Golden Hurricane edged Houston last season, 5-4, in Tulsa.

The teams began the match with singles instead of the customary doubles start. Houston's 94th-ranked Sarah Borwell gave the Cougars their lone point with a, 6-2, 6-3, victory over TU junior Bianca Posada at the top singles position.

Tulsa responded by sweeping the remaining singles contests. Sophomore sensation Aleksandra Durska easily won her 23rd match of the season with a, 6-0, 6-1, performance over UH's Kailey Meisinger at the No. 2 position.

TU senior Jennifer DeSpain won her fourth-straight singles match with a, 6-2, 6-4, victory against Jen Baccarani at the No. 3 slot. Junior Jana Sedivec followed suit at the No. 4 spot with a, 7-5, 6-4, win over Houston's Sarah Flood.

The match was still in doubt until sophomore Marjolein van Dongen and freshman Zoe Buhagiar each pulled off three-set wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.

Van Dongen outfought UH's Joanne Keene, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, while Buhagiar improved to 4-0 in singles this season with a, 7-6, 2-6, 6-2, win over Annie Rapp.
