Golden Hurricane Volleyball Team Earns National Academic Award

Senior Kara Hidinger and Junior Erin Carlisle were leaders on the court and in the classroom, as they had to of the highest GPAs on the TU squad in 2000-01.

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball squad is one of 25 NCAA Division I teams to earn the 2000-01 AVCA/Molten Team Academic Award, as announced by American Volleyball Coaches Association Executive Director Lindy Binns. This is the third time the Golden Hurricane has won the award.

The award honors college and high school teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average during the 2000-01 school year.

With a team GPA of 3.37, Tulsa ranked 16th in the nation. The Golden Hurricane also excelled on the court during the 2000 season, finishing with a 20-13 record. Tulsa broke nine school records during the season, including seven team records and two individual records.
