Omni Hotels Central Region Championships to Conclude Sunday

Tulsa, Okla. - The 2002 Omni Hotels Women's Tennis Central Region Championships will conclude Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus. There is no charge for admission.
Tulsa's Alicia Pillay will battle Missouri's Urska Juric in the Singles Championship set to begin at 9:00 a.m. Pillay, the tournament's top-seeded singles player, defeated two seeded-singles players en route to the final match. Juric, the tournament's second-seeded singles player, knocked off three seeded-singles players to compete in the final round.
In the Doubles Championship, Oklahoma State's Anda Perianu and Heather Saluri will take on Missouri's Juric and Katia Seveikova following the Singles Championship. Perianu and Saluri came into the competition not seeded, but have defeated the tournament's second and third-seeded doubles teams. Juric and Seveikova, the tournament's top-seeded team, defeated two seeded-doubles teams, including the fifth-seeded team, Kansas' Courtney and Kristin Steinbock, in the semifinals.
Kansas' Courtney Steinbock and New Mexico's Maja Kovacek will compete in the Singles Backdraw Championship beginning at 8:00 a.m. After loosing their first matches in the Main Draw, both Steinbock and Kovacek have gone on to win three straight matches to compete in the final round of the Backdraw Championship.
