Volleyball Signs One Player During Early Signing Period

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team added a new player to its 2003 roster during the early signing period, as announced by TU head coach Matt Sonnichsen. The new Golden Hurricane player is Amy Meyer of Buda, Texas.

Meyer earned first team all-district honors for the previous two seasons, helping lead her Jack C. Hays High School team to the second round of the state playoffs this season and a regional quarterfinal appearance as a junior. She also helped her club team, the Austin Juniors, to a third place AAU 17-under nationals last summer.

While at Hays High School, Meyer posted 759 kills over the past three years. She finished her career with 95 service aces, with a 97-percent serving percentage. As a senior, she was second on the team with 276 kills.

The Golden Hurricane (18-13) will close out the 2002 season with a pair of Western Athletic Conference matches against Louisiana Tech (18-13) and UTEP (11-11). On Thursday, Tulsa will host the Lady Techsters at 7 p.m. Sundays' match with UTEP will also be at 7 p.m. Sunday is also Fan Appreciation Night, with the first 500 fans receiving a free hot dog and drink.
