TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Some outstanding shooting by Jason Parker helped overcome sloppy play by Tulsa and a scrappy effort by Wichita State.
The junior guard scored a career-high 30 points and set a school record with eight 3-pointers as the 19th-ranked Golden Hurricane beat the Shockers 80-69 Wednesday night.
"It was just one of those nights," Parker said. "I had a couple of good looks early and my teammates were getting me the ball in the right place."

Parker was forced into playing point guard after Tulsa (4-0) lost starter Antonio Reed to a sprained ankle. He was 8-of-13 from 3-point range and had six rebounds and two steals.
"Jason has really worked hard on his shot and has a chance to be one of the best shooters in TU history," Tulsa coach John Phillips said. "He is a testament to what hard work can do.
Six of Parker's 3-pointers came in the first half as Tulsa took a 47-35 lead.
But it was center Kevin Johnson who saved Tulsa after the Shockers (2-2) had cut a 16-point lead to 66-52 with a 12-0 run. Johnson scored six of his 15 points and set up a breakaway basket by Dante Swanson as Tulsa answered Wichita State's surge with a 13-3 run of its own.
Tulsa shot just 21 percent in the second half, 38 percent for the game and had 16 turnovers.
"We know we've got to get a lot better, particularly on defense and rebounding," Parker said. "We know those are what wins games in the NCAA tournament."
Johnson finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Swanson added 13 points and Jarius Glenn had a career-high 12 in his first start for the Hurricane.
Jamar Howard had 16 points for Wichita State, which has lost 13 consecutive times to its former Missouri Valley Conference rival.
Randy Burns had 15 points, Aaron Hogg 13 and Jamie Sowers 11 for the Shockers, who lost starting point guard Fridge Holman for the season last week with a broken foot.
