Lady Razorbacks Break TU Hearts, Again

Fayetteville, Ark. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team lost for only the second time this season in a 4-3 thriller at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. The loss is the second one point defeat for the Golden Hurricane this season.
The Lady Razorbacks (3-1, 0-0 SEC) swept the doubles point by winning all three doubles matches. Tulsa had only lost one doubles match, going 17-1 in all. The sweep is the first time this season the Golden Hurricane failed to pick up a win in doubles.
The Golden Hurricane (5-2, 0-0 WAC) bounced back in singles play, however. Five of the six single matches went three sets. The only match not to go into three sets, the No. 3 singles, went into a tiebreaker in the first set.
Junior Alicia Pillay and senior Jana Sedivec quickly made up for their loss in doubles, as both picked up wins in singles early on to help the Golden Hurricane storm right back into the match, taking a 2-1 lead. The Golden Hurricane's top-3 are 20-1 this season in dual play, 50-16 overall.
Arkansas refused to back down, as Adriana Lopez and Megan Ferreira defeated Johanna Zingman and Zoe Barrios at No. 5 and No. 4 singles respectively, to give Arkansas a 3-2 lead.
After Durska's 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Monika Dybicz knotted the match at 3-3, the weight of the match rested on the outcome of Arkansas' Iliana Pacheco's battle with the Golden Hurricane's Zoe Buhagian.
After splitting the first two sets, Buhagian found herself up 3-0 in the final set, before Pacheco roared back to take a win the next 6 games, for a 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 victory. Pacheco's win clinched the match for the Lady'Backs, 4-3, moving Arkansas to 17-0 all-time against Tulsa.
