Reno, Nev. - Sophomore sprinter Shana Robinson broke her own school record for the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.93 at the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday. While senior Debbie Cardenas took home the crown for the women's 3,000-meter run. The meet was held at the Reno Livestock Event Center in Reno, Nev.

The Tulsa, Okla. native, provisionally qualifed for the NCAA Indoor Championships with the time that broke her previous best time of 6.97, which she set in her preliminary heat. She also finished second in the 200m with a final time of 24.16.

Junior Jamese James led a trio of TU runners in the finals of the 400-meter dash. James finished fifth with a time of 55.77, while freshmen Chatney Noble and Alisha Burnett finidhed sixth and seventh, respectively. Noble ran a time of 56.27 in the final while Burnett clocked a time of 56.94. James also finished fifth in the finals of the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.21.

Monica Joannes finished fourth in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.55. Fellow junior April Johnson finished seventh in the same final with a time of 2:16.90.

Four TU runners highligted the finals of the women's 3,000-meter run. Cardenas finished just ahead of teammate Sarah Haskins with a time of 10:20.89. Haskins finished with a time of 10:22.34. Freshman Natalie Rasmussen finished sixth with a time of 10:37.56. Senior Charlotte Sanderson finished ninth with a time of 10:47.28.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team finished second to the team from UTEP by .04 of a second. TU recorded a time of 3:42.59, just behind UTEP's time of 3:42.59.

For the men, junior Andy Norman recorded TU's best finish. Norman finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a season-best time of 8:25.17. Sophomore Owain Matthews finished seventh with a ime of 8:51.17, while Blake Carpenter placed eighth with a time of 8:54.23.

Like the women, the men's 4x400-meter relay team finished second. The men clocked a time of 3:19.39.

Junior Derek Sparks finished third in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.34.
