Kansas State Assistant Harris Named Tulsa's Rowing Coach

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa today named Kevin Harris as the school's women's rowing coach, as announced by Director of Athletics Judy MacLeod.
Harris has spent the past three seasons as the Head Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Kansas State. During his tenure, Kansas State earned the school's first top-25 ranking in the 2002 CRCA National Poll. Harris increased the novice team roster from eight to an average of 25 in three years. Two of the 20 rowers he recruited to Kansas State were members of the U.S. Junior National Development Team.
Prior to his stint at KSU, Harris spent two years as the Head Women's Rowing Coach at Division III Mills College in California. He guided the team to the NCAA Championships in 1998, where the women's varsity-four team placed 15th in the nation. His varsity-four team also finished seventh at the Pac-10 Championships and defeated USC and California that season.
Before that, Harris was the Women's Novice Coach at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts for two years. He was responsible for all aspects of the Novice Rowing Team. His novice team placed first at the 1997 New England Women's 8 Conference Championships, and finished in second-place a year earlier.
In addition, Harris served as head coach of the Junior Women's National Team Development Summer Camp in 1999 and 2000. He was also the head coach of the Capitol Rowing Club and the Women's Crews at the Potomac Boat Club in Washington, D.C.
Harris, 33, earned his bachelor's degree in History from George Washington University in 1992. He received a master's of Education in 1997 from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
