Tulsa, Oklahoma - The 56th-ranked University of Tulsa women's tennis team won four singles matches and the doubles point to defeat 57th-ranked Iowa, 5-2, on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tulsa (2-0) got things rolling in a positive direction early when its top doubles tandem of seniors Alicia Pillay and Aleksandra Durska blanked Iowa's Cassie Haas and Deni Alexandrova, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles. The Hawkeyes made the match interesting by edging Tulsa junior Mariana Barrios and Daniela Muscolino, 9-7 at the second doubles spot. The doubles point came down to the No.3 doubles spot where TU freshman Tiffany Smith and junior Donata Majauskaite slipped past Iowa's Jennifer Hodgman and Chelsea Glynn, 9-7, and secured the all-important doubles point.

In singles action, Pillay, the nation's 20th ranked player, got past Haas, 6-4, 6-2, at the top spot. Iowa countered with Gloria Okino's 6-3, 7-6 win over Smith at No. 4. With TU up 2-1, Hodgman downed TU freshman Timberly Greenly, 6-3, 4-6 (10-6) and tied the match at 2-2.

Tulsa players responded to the call by winning the final three matches. Muscolino defeated Glynn, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5 and Durska, ranked No. 102 nationally, clinched the win with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Steffi Hoch at No. 2.
