Tulane Sweeps Tulsa in Men's and Women's Tennis

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa men's and women's tennis teams fell to Tulane on Sunday at Goldring Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana.
TU's 54th-ranked men's tennis team lost, 6-1, to 29th-ranked Tulane. Freshman Olof Sjolund netted the Golden Hurricane lone point with a victory over Jorge Lievano, 7-5, 6-4, at the No. 5 singles position. Also in singles, Tulane's 32nd-ranked Michael Kogan overcame Tulsa's 43rd-ranked Alejandro Tejerina, 6-4, 6-3, as Dustin Taylor fell, 6-3, 6-3, to 70th-ranked Victor Romero.
In the doubles competition, Tulane's 29th-ranked Kogan and Romero upset 19th-ranked Ryan Livesay and Taylor, 8-4, in the No. 1 slot.
On the women's side, 37th-ranked Tulane overcame 50th-ranked Tulsa, 5-2. TU's 20th-ranked Alicia Pillay upset 10th-ranked Julie Smekodub in the No. 1 singles position, 6-2, 2-1, as Smekodub retired. Tiffany Smith also netted a victory for the Golden Hurricane with a 3-6, 6-2, 10-1 super tiebreaker at the No. 4 slot. Tulsa's 102nd-ranked Aleksandra Durska, however, lost to 101st-ranked Jenny Kuhn, 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 2 position.
Tulane's top-ranked doubles tandem, Smekodub and Jenny Kuhn, defeated Tulsa's Pillay and Aleksandra Durska at the No. 1 slot, 8-3.
