TU Women's Tennis Team Falls to Missouri, 4-3

Tulsa, Okla. - The 42nd-ranked Tulsa women's tennis team fell, 4-3, to 37th-ranked Missouri on Friday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus.
In doubles action, TU's 54th-ranked doubles tandem, Alicia Pillay and Aleksandra Durska, fell to 15th-ranked Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova, 8-4, in the top doubles position, while Daniela Muscolino and Zoe Buhagiar fell 8-4 in the No. 3 slot, giving the Tigers the doubles point. Tiffany Smith and Mariana Barrios, however, netted a Golden Hurricane victory with their 8-5 win in the No. 2 position.
Smith netted the first TU point as she defeated Mary Barry, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 4 singles position, while teammate Muscolino also posted a victory at the No. 3 slot, overcoming Hana Kraftova, 6-3, 6-2. Donata Majauskaite, however, fell 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 6 position tying the score at two all.
Missouri's 34th-ranked Juric upset Tulsa's 26th-ranked Pillay, 7-5, 6-1, in the No. 1 position, but Durska fought hard to earn a TU victory, posting a 7-6, 7-5 score to keep the Golden Hurricane in the match.
In the final match, Buhagiar fell 4-6 in the first set, but fought back in the second set to net a 6-4 victory. Buhagiar could not pull out a victory, however, as she fell 6-2 in the third set to lose the match.
Tulsa will host 58th-ranked Boise State in their final home match of the season on Saturday, April 12th beginning at 12 noon.
