Hurricane Upsets Cowgirls, 4-3

Tulsa, Okla. - The 46th-ranked Tulsa women's tennis team overcame 36th-ranked Oklahoma State, 4-3, on Wednesday evening at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus.
The Golden Hurricane lost the doubles point as TU's 30th-ranked duo, Alicia Pillay and Aleksandra Durska, fell to 25th-ranked Linda Faltynkova and Katarzyna Kolodynska, 8-3, in the No. 1 position. Also for TU, Mariana Barrios and Tiffany Smith fell 8-5 in the No. 2 position, but Zoe Buhagiar and Daniela Muscolino overcame Ines Furtmayr and Zana Masnic, 9-8 (6), in the No. 3 position.
Muscolino netted Tulsa's first point as she defeated Kolodynska, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 3 singles position, as teammate Buhagiar defeated Masnic, 6-0, 6-3, in the No. 5 slot. Donata Majauskaite, however, fell in the No. 6 position, tying the score at two all.
Durska netted a point for the Golden Hurricane with her 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 victory over Kate Vasylyeva in the No. 2 slot, but Smith fell 7-6, 6-3, to Ewa Radzikowska in the No. 4 position, again tying the score.
The match came down to the No. 1 position, as 24th-ranked Pillay fell 2-6 to Faltynkova in the first set, but battled back to win the second set 6-1. Pillay was also victorious as she netted a 6-4 third set score to win the point and the match.
The Golden Hurricane (11-8) will battle the 75th-ranked Jayhawks beginning at noon at Robinson Courts on the campus of KU.
