Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa rowing season will conclude at the Lexus Cup Central/South Region Sprints on May 17-18 on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
"This is the culminating race of our season," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "Our goal is to make the petite final in both the Varsity 4 and Varsity 8, which will demonstrate how far this team has come in the last year."
This will also be the final regatta of four of the most pivotal members of the rowing team, Sue Casey, Laura Brown, Amanda Smith and Lindsay Nook. "These four women have been instrumental in the success of the crew over the last four years," stated Harris. "They have kept this team together."
TU will face tough competition in the Varsity 8, as seven ranked crews will be vying for a strong finish in the event, including No. 7 Michigan, No. 10 Ohio State, No. 11 Michigan State, No. 12 Virginia, No. 15 Iowa, No. 17 Texas and No. 19 Tennessee. "The focus of the regatta will be in the middle of the pack," Harris said. "There will be two or three teams that will separate themselves, but the rest of the top-15 are capable of beating anyone at anytime."
