Cherry Hill, NJ - University of Tulsa Assistant Rowing Coach Sue Casey, a former Golden Hurricane team captain and 2003 TU graduate, won two national titles and placed third in her final event at the U.S. Rowing Association National Championship Regatta.

Rowing for the U.S. National Team Development Camp at the Nereid Boat Club, Casey's Intermediate Lightweight Women's 8 Team clocked a time of 6:45 to claim the national title. She was also a member of the gold medal team in the Intermediate Lightweight Women's Four, finishing with a time of 7:43. In her final event, Casey and her teammate placed third in the Lightweight Women's Double.

Casey will continue to compete for the Development Camp Team this week at the Canadian Henley in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. The Canadian Henley is the traditional end of the summer rowing season in North America. The event covers six days and traditionally draws well over 2,500 participants.

"We're proud of Sue and the success she has achieved. Winning three medals at the National Championships is quite an accomplishment for anyone. To have the title of 'Two-Time National Champion' is a bonus," said TU Rowing Coach Kevin Harris. "Between rowing at TU and rowing in the summer months for the Development camps she has been working towards this for four years. It is a good way for her to end this phase of her competitive rowing career. It's also a good way for her to begin her coaching career at TU. She will be a great role model for the women she coaches."
