TU Women's Tennis Team Dominates Saint Louis, 7-0

Tulsa, Okla. - The 50th-ranked Tulsa women's tennis team dominated Saint Louis, 7-0, this morning at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus in the Golden Hurricane's first match of the season.
At the top of the singles lineup, TU's Ilona Somers posted an impressive, 6-0, 6-0, win over SLU's Amanda Hellberg, while Donata Majauskaite notched a 6-2, 7-5, mark over Katerina Lozanova in the No. 2 position. Tiffany Smith also earned a victory for the Golden Hurricane as she overcame Ana Renda, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 3 slot.
In the bottom half of the lineup, Timberly Greenly surpassed the Billikens' Melissa Cutler in the No. 4 position, 6-2, 6-4, as Santie Delport defeated Lindsay Winninger, 6-0, 6-3, in the No. 5 slot. At the No. 6 position, Kindsay Grimes also netted a win for TU with her 6-0, 6-1 victory over Rebecca Steer.
Tulsa's Grimes and Lisette Pereira dominated SLU's Hellberg and Lozanova, 8-1, in the No. 2 doubles position, while Delport teamed with Daniela Muscolino and notched an 8-2 victory over Steer and Winninger in the No. 3 slot. Smith and Somers, however, dropped an 8-4 decision in the top doubles position to the Billikens' Hellberg and Lozanova.
The Golden Hurricane (1-0) will take on cross-town rival Oral Roberts beginning at noon tomorrow at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
