Tulsa Duo Advance to Main Draw at Wilson/ITA Regionals

Tulsa, Okla. - Freshmen Andy Connelly and Ross Cunningham won both their matches in the qualifying draw at the 2004 Wilson/ITA Region V Championships held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at The University of Tulsa. By advancing into the qualifying round of 16 both have advanced to the main draw of the tournament.
Play was held indoors for the rounds of 32, in which Connelly, seeded No. 1 in the qualifying draw, trailed Justin Dennie (Creighton) 1-2 in the first set before rallying to win the first set 6-3 and the second set, 6-1. Cunningham, playing just his second singles match of the season, defeated Patrick Guilliod (ORU), 6-3, 6-3.
Moving outside for the round of 16, Connelly defeated Karl Jones (Nebraska), 6-3, 6-1. Cunningham faced Ricardo Rojas (UALR), winning 6-4, 7-5 (9).
Main Draw action begins Friday, Oct. 15 at 9 a.m. There will be the first two rounds of singles and a round of doubles competition played.
