Tulsa Women Golfers Close the Gap at WAC Championships

El Paso, Texas - The Tulsa women golfers battled windy conditions but made up two strokes on first round leader San Jose State at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Tuesday at the Underwood Golf Complex. Tulsa sits in second place after two rounds.
Tulsa, with three players among the top-10, still trails by one stroke heading into Wednesday's final round as the Hurricane carded a second round score of 307 at the par-72 Sunset Course.
Tulsa has a two-round total of 601, trailing San Jose State's 36-hole total of 600 after the Spartans carded round of 309 today. Nevada is in third-place with a 618 total, followed by SMU (622), Hawaii (629), Boise State (641), and host UTEP (642).
Senior Julie Tvede, a co-leader after the first round, is in second-place with an even-par 144 total after shooting a 76 today. She trails second round leader Ashley Gomes of San Jose State by three strokes. Gomes carded a round of 73 today and has a two-day total of three-under par 141.
Fellow senior Suzie Fisher, had a 78 today to go with her first round one-over par 73, and is in a fifth-place tie with a 151 total. Junior Lee-Anne Pace carded a 77 today for a 152 total and is in a three-way tie for seventh place.
Sophomore Cas Bridge equaled Tvede for Tulsa's best round of the day with a score of 76. Bridge is in 11th place with a 36-hole score of 154. Freshman Anna-Christina Kindgren carded a second round 86 and has a 169 total for 32nd place.
The 54-hole tournament concludes on Wednesday. The Hurricane is vying for a sixth straight WAC Championship.
