Volleyball Continues Record Breaking Season

College Station, Texas - The University of Tulsa volleyball squad reached 10 conference wins on Friday with a 3-1 (26-30, 30-28, 30-18, 30-18) victory over Tulane at the G. Rollie White Coliseum in College Station, Texas. The victory marks the first time in the program's history to reach double-figures in wins during league play. The win also improves TU's record to 23-6 on the season. That is the fourth best win total in the program's history, and currently the best winning percentage for a TU volleyball team.

Sophomore Kassiana Urnau led four TU hitters in double-digit kills, with 16. Juniors Amy Meyer and Germana Hilario posted 12 kills apiece, while senior Sam Rutherford added 10 kills.

Sophomore Julia Silva contributed 54 assists, to go along with 12 digs for her 15th double-double of the season. Urnau also posted a double-double with 16 digs, her 13th double-double of the year. In addition to Silva and Urnau, senior Evyn Wills recorded a match-high 27 digs.

The Golden Hurricane also set season-highs defensively, beginning with 24 block assists. Senior Dana Weddle recorded a career-best nine blocks, as the Hurricane recorded 14.0 total blocks. TU had only a three-kill advantage as a team (61-58), however enjoyed a .219-.100 advantage in hitting percentage. The match was the sixth time this season TU held an opponent to .100 or below for the match.

Tulsa will conclude the regular season on Sunday with a 3 p.m. match at UTEP. The Hurricane will then travel to Houston, Texas for the Conference USA Tournament on Nov. 17-20.
