Tulsa, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University volleyball team used seven service aces in the first game and held The University of Tulsa volleyball team to a season low seven kills in the second game, then held on for a 3-1 (30-21, 30-17, 25-30, 30-28) victory on Tuesday night. After starting flat and slow in its final non-conference match of the season, TU's wake up call came a little late, as a crowd of 489 at the ORU Aerobics Center witnessed the Golden Eagles win for the 55th time in the cross-town rivalry that dates back to 1979.
Junior Germana Hilario led three TU hitters in double-figure kill performances with 12. Senior Dana Weddle and sophomore Fabiola Nepomuceno added 11 kills apiece for the Hurricane. Sophomore Julie Silva posted a match-high 47 assists and a team-best eight digs.
Tulsa returns to Conference USA play on Friday, traveling to College Station, Texas to face Tulane at 7 p.m. The Green Wave was forced to relocate to Texas following Hurricane Katrina. Sunday will conclude the regular season for Tulsa, with a match against UTEP in El Paso, Texas.
