TU Women's Tennis Sweeps Southwest Missouri State

Kindsay Grimes posted a singles and a doubles win as the Golden Hurricane women's tennis swept Southwest Missouri State, 7-0.

Tulsa, Okla. - The No. 46-ranked University of Tulsa women's tennis team swept regional foe, Southwest Missouri State, 7-0, to improve to 4-1 on the season.

In singles competition, the Golden Hurricane women won all six matches. Senior captain Lisette Pereira led the way with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Liz Garza. Freshman Carla Zabaleta faced a tough first set with Maja Stanojevic, but on the match, 7-6, 6-3. Sophomore Santie Delport posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Paty Manzur. Timberly Greenly, Kindsay Grimes and Tiffany Smith were also victorious for TU.

Tulsa easily won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. In the number one ladder position, Santie Delport and Lisette Pereira defeated Liz Garza and Maja Stanojevic, 8-1. Timberly Greenly and Kindsay Grimes posted an 8-3 win over Biljana Gakovic and Paty Manzur. And the all-Argentinean freshmen tandem of Carla Zabaleta and Agostina Santoro downed Carolina Ardila and Stephanie Harmazy, 8-2.

The Golden Hurricane women's tennis team will travel to Colorado to face the University of Colorado and the University of the Denver the weekend of February 11-12.
