Tulsa Women Golfers in Second Place at WAC Championships

Cas Bridge moved up to third place after two rounds at the Western Athletic Conference Championships.

Kuna, Idaho - The Tulsa women's golf team gave up one stroke to San Jose State and trails the Spartans by one stroke after two rounds at the Western Athletic Conference Championships. The two teams entered the day tied for first place with identical scores of 301, but San Jose State shot a six-over par 294 today bettering Tulsa's 295 score by just one shot.

The Spartans enter the final round on Wednesday with a 595 total, while Tulsa has a score of 596. SMU is within striking distance, sitting just three strokes behind the Spartans with a 598 total. Host Boise State is in fourth place with a 616 total, followed by Fresno State (620), Hawaii (633), UTEP (636) and Nevada (644)

Tulsa finds itself in an identical situation to last year, when the Hurricane trailed the Spartans heading into the final day of the WAC Championships, only to come out ahead by four strokes.

Three Tulsa golfers remain among the top-10 individuals at the par-72 Falcon Crest Golf Course, but freshman Michaela Cavener fell from first to second-place. Cavener carded a two-over par 74 after yesterday's one-under 71, while San Jose State's Jenelle Gomez shot a 71 today to overtake the lead by one stroke, 144 to 145.

Hurricane junior Cas Bridge fired a one-under par round of 71 and moved from seventh place into third place with a 146 total, just two strokes behind the leader Gomez. Senior Lee-Anne Pace shot one stroke better than on Monday with a two-over par 74 today. She has a 149 total after two rounds.

Tulsa also counted a 76 for today from freshman Leisl Hasbrouck. She had a complete turnaround from yesterday's 13-over par 85, with a four-over par round of 76 today. Hasbrouck sits in 30th place overall. Fellow sophomore Polly Travica carded a 78 today and is in 24th place with a 158 total.

Tulsa enters Wednesday's final 18 holes eyeing a seventh straight WAC Championship. Tulsa has won every league title since winning its first in 1999.
