Franklin, Tennessee - Former University of Tulsa golfer Stacy Prammanasudh won her first career LPGA tournament title by garnering a three-stroke victory at the Franklin American Mortgage Championship benefiting Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
It marked the second consecutive week that a former TU golfer claimed an LPGA title. A week ago, Carin (Hjalmarsson) Koch captured medalist honors at the Corona Morelia Championship in Michoacan, Mexico. Koch shot rounds of 68-69-71-71 for a nine-under par total of 279 to claim the $150,000 first-place prize.
On Sunday, Prammanasudh held off second-place and defending champion Lorena Ochoa with a final round of 69. She finished the tournament with a 14-under par total of 274. Prammanasudh had identical rounds of two-under par 70 on the first two days, and then fired a seven-under par 65 on Saturday to bolt into the lead heading into final round action. Ochoa finished at 11-under for the 74-hole tournament.
Prammanasudh was a four-time first-team All-American when she played at Tulsa. In her career at Tulsa, Prammanasudh placed among the top-20 in 41 of 44 career tournaments, had 33 top-10 career performances, placed among the top-five 25 times and finished either first or second 15 times. Her 10 tournament wins was second in school history to only Nancy Lopez's 11 career victories.
As a senior in 2001-02, Prammanasudh was ranked second nationally for most of the season, and completed the year ranked that way. She placed among the top-5 in eight of 11 tournaments, finished among the top-15 in all 11 events and won four tournament titles. Prammanasudh won the Western Athletic Conference title two years and was named the WAC Player of the Year for three consecutive seasons.
