TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Brett McDade scored 18 points and Tulsa hit eight-of-10 free throws in the final two minutes to beat Southern Mississippi 72-63 Saturday.

Anthony Price added 15 points as the Golden Hurricane (6-9, 1-1 Conference USA) won their first game in the conference they joined last year.

Courtney Beasley scored 16 points and Travis Hall added 15 for Southern Miss (7-10, 1-1).

The Golden Eagles pulled to 62-59 on Hall's basket with 2:44 remaining, but Tulsa went on a 6-0 run to put the game away. McDade hit two free throws to cap the run, and Darold Crow and Sam Mitchell each sank a pair of foul shots in the final 15 seconds.

Tulsa took its biggest lead 42-31 on Crow's basket and foul shot with 18:01 left in the game. The traditional three-point play followed Crow's dunk on Tulsa's first possession of the half.

Southern Miss cut the lead to three on three occasions in the second half, but could come no closer. The Golden Hurricane shot 28-of-34 (82.4 percent) from the free throw line for the game.

Price's two free throws gave Tulsa its largest lead of the first half 37-29 with :43 left and capped a 15-6 Golden Hurricane run. Price also had a dunk in the spurt that reversed a one-point Golden Eagles lead.

Tulsa, which trailed by as many as four points in the early going, led 37-31 at the half despite the Golden Eagles' 14-11 edge on the boards.
