Silva Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

Junior Julia Silva was named to the C-USA All-Academic volleyball team on Thursday.

Tulsa, Okla. - A day after being named Conference USA Setter of the Year, Julia Silva picked up another league honor by earning a spot on the C-USA All-Academic Team. The junior has a 3.30 grade point average while majoring in marketing.

Silva helped lead TU to its first ever conference championship in 2006, as the Golden Hurricane earned the top-seed in this weekend's C-USA Championship by winning the regular season title. At a pre-championship banquet, Silva also earned hardware for being the Setter of the Year and a member of the All-Conference First Team. She is averaging 11.84 assists and 3.24 digs per game on the season.

The junior from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil led the league with three triple-doubles on the season and tied for fourth with 18 double-doubles. Silva also has Silva has been a member of the TU Dean's Honor Roll every semester at Tulsa.
