Tulsa Women Golfers Make NCAA Central Regional Field

Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa Women's golf team has been selected to participate in the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships Regional Tournament. Tulsa received an at-large bid in the Central Region, which will be played on the par-72 Traditions Course at Texas A&M University in College Station Texas, May 11-13.

Since the regional format was adopted in 1993 Tulsa has made all but one regional tournament appearance. The Hurricane has won one regional title, with that coming in 2001 in the Central Region.

Twenty-one teams will compete for the Central Regional title, including nine teams ranked among the nation's top-25. No. 1 ranked Duke headlines the field, followed by #2 Southern California, #7 Pepperdine, #12 Texas A&M, #13 Florida, #18 Ohio State, #19 Oklahoma State, #20 Kent State and #24 Michigan State.

Tulsa goes into the tournament ranked 33rd nationally.

The top eight teams and two individuals will advance from three regional tournaments to the NCAA Championships finals, May 23-26, at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
