Tulsa Volleyball Sweeps at Rose Hill Classic

Bronx, N.Y. - The University of Tulsa won its first two matches at the Rose Hill Classic hosted by Fordham, by defeating St. Peter's, 3-0 (30-11, 30-19, 30-26) and Maine, 3-0 (30-25, 30-17, 30-25). The wins improve TU's record to 12-3, including 10 sweeps on the season.

In the first match, juniors Fabiola Nepomuceno and Julia Silva led the Golden Hurricane with nine kills apiece against the Peahens. Silva also added a match-high 31 assists. Sophomore Kelsey Wood led Tulsa with 13 digs, while junior Kassiana Urnau also posted double-figures in digs with 10. She also recorded her eighth double-double of the season with a school-record 10 service aces. The previous record for aces in a match was set in 1994 when Mendy Marsh had nine against Mississippi Valley State. As a team, the Golden Hurricane posted 19 service aces in the match. Urnau also moves into third place on the all-time TU chart for career aces with 124.

Againt Maine, Urnau once again posted a double-double with 16 kills ad 15 digs for the Hurricane, both being team highs. Silva also recorded a double-double with 38 assists and 11 digs. She also finished with a .875 hitting percentage with seven kills in eight attacks. Senior Gemana Hilario also reached double-figures in kills with 13, as all six of the TU starters posted at least five kills apiece.

Tulsa will conclude the tournament on Saturday with an afternoon match against New Jersey Institute of Technology and an evening match against host Fordham.
