Shreveport, La. - The University of Tulsa volleyball squad bounced back yet again with a win, following a close loss. After losing to Central Arkansas, Tulsa came back on Saturday to defeat Jackson State, 3-0 (30-17, 30-19, 30-22) and Nicholls State, 3-0 (30-27, 30-18, 30-13).
Senior Amy Meyer led the Golden Hurricane attack against JSU, with a match-best 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Junior Julia Silva was held under 30 assists for the first time this season, finishing with 29 for the match. Sophomore Kelsey Wood posted a team-high 12 digs for TU, while fellow sophomore Malorey Grove, junior Kassiana Urnau and Fabiola Nepomuceno all recorded a pair of serving aces, respectively.
With its victory over NSU, TU earned a second place trophy for the tournament. Junior Kassiana Urnau led TU for the fifth time this season, with 17 kills. She also posted her fourth double-double with a team-best 13 digs. Silva returned to the 30-assist club with 35 in the nightcap.
The TU defense held both opponents under a .100 hitting percentage as the Colonels of NSU mustered a .045 hitting percentage for the match, while JSU posted a .010 team percentage. Tulsa out hit its two opponents, 102-53 in kills and .249-.028 in hitting percentage.
