Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team will continue its current home stand with a pair of Conference USA matches this week. On Friday, Sept. 29, TU will host Marshall in a 7 p.m., match in the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Tulsa will face East Carolina on Sunday in a 12 noon match at the Reynolds Center.
Marshall is the defending C-USA regular-season and tournament champion, as well as this year's pre-season favorite as selected by the league's coaches. The Thundering Herd defeated TU, 3-0 (30-20, 30-20, 30-21) last season in Huntington, W.V., in the only other meeting between the two institutions.
Tulsa will also be seeking some revenge over ECU on Sunday. The Pirates defeated TU, 3-1 (30-27, 30-22, 28-30, 30-25) last season in Greenville, N.C. That, too, has been the only meeting between TU and ECU.
With 16 victories on the season, TU ranks 28th nationally for winning percentage with a 16-3 record. The Hurricane has also posted the second most wins of any NCAA Division I team in the country.
Friday is also Youth Volleyball Day, as players wearing a jersey from their youth team will receive free admission. Sunday is Scout Day at the Reynolds Center. Scouts wearing their uniforms will not only receive free admission, the first 100 Scouts will also receive a free Arby's bag with a free drink coupon. There will also be an autograph session with the team after the match.
Tickets for each TU match at the Reynolds Center cost $6 for adults and $4 for youth (16 and under). TU students receive free admission with a valid TU ID card.
