Women's Tennis Finishes the Rainbow Wahine Invite Strong

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team won three of four doubles matches and were victorious in six of its nine singles matches, Saturday afternoon at Rainbow Wahine Invite at the University of Hawai`i Tennis Complex. Teams featured were Tulsa, Cal State Northridge, UC Irvine, Hawai`i Pacific and host Hawai`i.
Tulsa six singles wins came from Alexandra Kichoutkin, Marta Marcinkowska, Rebecca Row, Carla Zabaleta, Jenna Webster and Jie Zeng. Kichoutkin and Row defeated members of the UC Irvine team, Clare Fermin (6-3, 6-4) and Heidi Kaloi (6-4, 6-2). While, Marcinkowska, Webster and Zeng were victorious against teammates from Hawai`i Pacific: Samantha Matthews (6-2, 6-0), Ingrid Cseh (6-3, 6-2) and Lauren Shin (6-3, 6-0). Lastly, Zabaleta defeated Sophie Kobuch of Hawai`i (6-4, 6-1). Of Tulsa's three defeats two came from UC Irivine; Inna Agababian defeated Thalia Diaz-Barriga (6-3, 6-3), while Agostina Santoro fell to Rebecca Kwan (7-6, 6-3). In the only three set match of the invite, Julie Westfall lost to Hawai`i's Julia Sandborn (1-6, 6-3, 6-3).
In doubles action, the pair of Zeng/Row defeated Hawai`i Pacific's Elena Hudzikova/Lauren Shin (8-2). The duo of Kichoutkin/Zabaleta beat Chloe Bihag/Sophie Kobuch of Hawai`i (8-4). Lastly, the team of Marcinkowska/Barriga defeated UC Irvine's Inna Agababian/Jessica Broadfoot (8-5). In Tulsa's lone doubles defeat, the pair of Westfall/Webster fell to Heidi Kaloi/Rebecca Kwan of UC Irvine (8-2).
Tulsa is next in action at the ITA Central Region Championships in Tulsa, Okla. starting on October 17.
