Tulsa Sweeps UTEP in C-USA Volleyball Action

Tulsa, Okla.- - The University of Tulsa volleyball team kept pace with the Conference USA front-runners with a 3-0 (30-27, 30-19, 30-23) victory over UTEP on Friday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. A crowd of 157 witnessed senior Julia Silva post her fourth triple double of the season, with 10 kills, 36 assists and 11 digs. She is the only player in C-USA to record even one triple-double this season, as well as the only person to record over 20 double-doubles, currently with 23.
Senior Fabiola Nepomuceno led the Hurricane hitters with 19 kills, while freshman Hanna Stout also posted 11 kills for TU. Nepomuceno had her 20-kill performance streak snapped at five matches. Tulsa recorded only one more kill than than UTEP, however utilized a .267-.188 advantage in hitting percentage for the win.
Junior Malorey Grove led a trio of Hurricane defenders with 28 digs, as freshman Nicole Boyle posted 13 digs.
Tulsa (21-5, 9-2 C-USA) will continue its homestand by hosting Tulane on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Green Wave defeated SMU on Friday, to improve to 22-5 overall, 10-2 in C-USA action. The match will be nationally televised on CSTV. Admission is free to the match.
