TULSA, Okla. (AP) -Jerome Jordan and Glenn Andrews scored 14 points each as Tulsa overpowered Arkansas State 75-59 on Friday.
Jordan, a 7-0 sophomore who also had seven rebounds and four blocks, converted lob passes for dunks twice in a 10-2 Tulsa run that lifted the Golden Hurricane to a 70-50 lead with 3:27 to play.
Andrews, a 6-3 freshman, hit four of six shots and five of six free throws for Tulsa (2-1).
The Golden Hurricane outpaced the Indians on the boards 43-27, led by a career-high 15 rebounds from forward Calvin Walls.
Ryan Wedel scored 16 points for Arkansas State (0-2), which shot just 35.5 percent from the field. Leading scorer Adrian Banks was limited to 11 points on four-of-14 shooting and Shawn Morgan added 10 points.
Despite 16 first-half turnovers, Tulsa took a 32-22 lead into halftime and never trailed after the first minute of play.
A 3-pointer by freshman Justin Hurtt put Tulsa ahead 51-31 with 13:02 to play, but Arkansas State fought back to get within 60-46.
Jordan then led another Tulsa surge that put the game away.
