Kindsay Grimes and the TU women's Tennis Team moved to 8-0 with a 5-2 win over Oklahoma.

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team (8-0) kept its record unblemished with a convincing 5-2 win over in-state rival Oklahoma on Tuesday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Tulsa, ranked No. 54 in the newest ITA/Fila national rankings, jumped to the early 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. Santie Delport and Marta Marcinkowska nabbed the first doubles win with an 8-5 victory over Gabby Baker and Irina Lykina at the one position. After OU evened the score at the two position, Thalia Diaz-Barriga and Jie Zeng came through for the Golden Hurricane to clinch the point by means of an 8-5 win over Chelsea Orr and Rachel Cox.

TU picked up its second point on a 6-3, 6-0 win by Santie Delport over Christi Bazley at the three position, and moved to a 3-0 lead when Agostina Santoro defeated Orr 6-2, 6-3 at the five spot.

Jenna Webster clinched the win for the Hurricane on the strength of a 6-1, 7-5 win over Elena Antekova at the six position.

Kindsay Grimes gave TU a 5-0 lead after a 6-3, 6-4 win in the one spot over the Sooners' Gabby Baker.

OU closed the gap in the final two matches, forcing both to superset third sets. Lykina of OU pulled out a 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 win over Diaz-Barriga and Monica Purice defeated Carla Zabaleta by the score of 3-6, 6-4, 15-13 to close the final score to 5-2 in favor of the Hurricane.

Tulsa will be back in action on February 17 when it hosts Indiana State at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
