Tulsa, Okla. - The Tulsa women's rowing team will take to the road on Saturday-Sunday, April 14-15 at the William Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Golden Hurricane is slated to compete in the Novice 4+, Novice 8+, Varsity 8+ and 2nd Varsity 8+.
This is one of the largest early-season regattas, as TU will face 25 crews from across the nation in the Varsity 8+. Tulsa will take on Georgetown, Gonzaga, St. Joseph's, SMU and Temple, as well as other schools from the Big East, Atlantic 10, Atlantic Coast and other various conferences.
"We are going to race three Eights for the first time in school history at this regatta, and we will face strong competition in each of the races," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "We are looking to mix it up with the best and see how we compare."
Tulsa has competed in one regatta during the spring season, posting first-place marks in seven of the eight races against Creighton at home in the Lawless Cup. The Golden Hurricane was then scheduled to race Kansas and Drake, but the regatta was cancelled due to inclement weather.
