Tulsa's Cavener Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

Michaela Cavener was named to the five-member Conference USA All-Academic Golf Team for 2006-07.

Irving, Texas - University of Tulsa junior golfer Michaela Cavener was named to the five-member Conference USA All-Academic Golf Team for 2006-07, it was announced today by the league office.

Cavener, from Ponca City, Okla., holds a 3.41 GPA as an International Business and Language major.

She leads the Golden Hurricane with a 75.67 stroke average and was named the C-USA Golfer of the Week following an eighth place finish at the prestigious "Mo" Morial Tournament. Her best finish of the year was third place at the Aloha Purdue Collegiate.

Last year, Cavener was a Conference USA first-team selection and placed sixth at the 2006 C-USA Women's Golf Championship.

The other four recipients were Lene Krog of East Carolina, Allyson Hatcher of Marshall, Memphis' Rachel Larson and SMU's Kate Ackerson.
