Tulsa Tied for Fifth in Preseason Volleyball Poll

Tulsa, Okla. - Coming off its best conference season in program history, The University of Tulsa volleyball team was picked to finish fifth by the league's coaches. The Golden Hurricane finished 27-7 overall in 2006, including a school-record 13-3 during Conference USA play. TU won the regular season C-USA crown, before falling in the semi-finals of the conference championships.

Senior Julia Silva, the 2006 Conference USA Setter of the Year, is one of two setters to earn a spot on the preseason all-C-USA team. Silva was the leagues Setter of the Week four times last year while breaking her own school record for assists in a season. She became the first TU setter to ever record over 1,400 assists in a year and currently ranks second in school history.

Tulsa opens the 2007 season on August 24th at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational hosted by Missouri State in Springfield, Mo. The Hurricane opens its home schedule by hosting the Tulsa Invitational on Sept. 14-15.
