Golden Hurricane Volleyball Team Bounces Back with Wins

Springfield, Mo.- - The University of Tulsa volleyball team bounced back with a victory to start Saturday's play at the T.J. Sales/Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational in Sprinfield, Mo. TU defeated UMKC, 3-0 (30-27, 30-24, 31-29) and Delaware State, 3-0 (30-13, 30-12, 31-29).
Senior Fabiola Nepomuceno and freshman Hanna Stout combined to lead the Hurricane attack with 14 and 10 kills, respectively. Freshman Nicole Boyle also teamed with Nepomuceno and Stout for a trio of TU players posting double-figures in points as she posted eight kills and three service aces. Senior Julia Silva recorded her third straight double-double with 27 assists and 11 digs. Junior Malorey Grove contributed 17 digs for TU. Fellow junior Kelsey Wood also posted 13 digs for the Hurricane.
In the second match of the day, Tulsa used a balanced attach with four players posting nine kills apiece. In addition to Nepomuceno, Stout and Silva, freshman Emma Ridley also recorded nine kills for the Hurricane. Silva narrowly missed her first triple-double of the season with 31 assists and 11 digs during the match. She also added two aces and four blocks during the contest.
Tulsa (2-2) owned a 46-23 advantage in kills for the entire match, as well as an advantage in hitting percentage, .346-(-.027). The Hurricane posted a perfect opening stanza with 12 kills and no errors for a .444 percentage.
