Tulsa Opens Home Volleyball Slate with Tulsa Invitational

Tulsa, Okla. - Tulsa Invitational Tournament Central

After opening the season on the road for three weeks, The University of Tulsa volleyball will play its first match in the friendly confines of the Donald W. Reynolds Center in 2007. The Tulsa Invitational will feature teams from Grambling State, New Jersey Institute of Technology and North Texas, in addition to TU.

TU and NJIT will kickoff the invitational with a 1 p.m., match on Friday. The Hurricane and Highlanders have met once on the volleyball court, with TU winning last season's match-up 3-0 (30-26, 30-18, 30-14). The Hurricane will face North Texas to finish off Friday's action, at 6 p.m. TU owns a 11-5 advantage over the Mean Green in their overall series.

Tulsa will host Grambling State for the seventh time since 1998 for an 11:30 a.m., match on Saturday. The Hurricane owns an 8-0 all-time record against the Tigers, including a 24-game winning streak.

All faculty and staff of The University of Tulsa will receive free admission to all six matches of the Tulsa Invitational. TU students will also receive free admission with a valid TU ID card. Adult tickets are $6 with youth tickets are $4 apeice.

The first 75 TU Students to the 1:00 pm match ONLY will receive a sandwich and bag of chips courtesy of Arby's.
