Volleyball Wins Tulsa Invitational

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa won its second tournament title of the season with a perfect 3-0 record at the Tulsa Invitational at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The Golden Hurricane capped off the weekend with a 3-0 (30-14, 30-15, 30-22) sweep of Grambling State on Saturday morning.
Senior Fabiola Nepomucenco led the Hurricane hitters with 15 kills, for her eighth straight double-figure kill performance on the season. Freshman Hannah Stout also reached double-figures with 10 kills for TU. Senior Julia Silva posted her 12th double-double of the season with 35 assists and 10 digs for TU, while freshman Nicole Boyle also contributed 10 digs for the Hurricane.
The TU defense again held an opponent to under .100 hitting percentage, as the Hurricane posted double figures in blocks for the third straight match. Tulsa posted a season-best 12 team blocks against the Lady Tigers on Saturday, including six from freshman Nicole Boyle.
Silva was named the tournament's MVP after averaging 11.89 assists per game and 3.67 digs per game for the Hurricane on the weekend. Nepomuceno led the Hurricane with a 5.44 kills per game average to earn all-tournament honors, while Boyle led TU with 41 digs and a 4.56 digs per game average to earn all-tournament honors.
Tulsa improves to 11-3 on the season, with all 11 victories coming via the sweep. The Hurricane will return to action on Tuesday, as it hosts cross-town rival Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. in the Reynolds Center.
