Coach Allen Picks Up 400th Career Win

Nacogdoches, Texas - Head Coach Ed Allen picked up his 400th career victory as The University of Tulsa extended its winning streak to eight consecutive matches and 24 games with a 3-0 (30-17, 30-26, 30-16) sweep over Northwestern State. TU and the Demons opened Saturday's play at the LadyJack Invitational. In the tournament final, host Stephen F. Austin posted a 3-2 (29-31, 30-17, 30-27, 17-30, 15-12) victory over the Hurricane.

Against NSU, senior Fabiola Nepomuceno led the Hurricane attack for the third consecutive match, with 16 kills. She has reached double-figures in kills in eight of TU's 11 matches. Fellow senior Julia Silva recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 27 assists and 10 digs. Junior Malorey Grove posted a match-high 16 digs for the Hurricane as well.

Tulsa utilized a 44-34 advantage in kills against Northwestern State to pick up its fourth straight win over the Demons. TU also held its opponent to a sub-.100 hitting percentage for the second straight match, as NSU only managed a .064 mark. It was the fifth time this season the Hurricane's opponent did not reach the .100 plateau and the 10th time this season an opponent has not recorded .200 hitting percentage.

Nepomuceno again led the Hurricane with a career-best 23 kills. Silva also posted a career-best with 30 digs to go along with season-high 44 assists. Grove also contributed 29 digs and two service aces for the Hurricane, while freshman Emma Ridley also posted a season-high 15 kills.

Tulsa opens its home schedule next Friday and Saturday by hosting the Tulsa Invitational at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
