Larrissa Williams and Teka Brooks each posted a double-double for the Tulsa women's basketball team en route to a 78-58 win over Cal State Fullerton on Monday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The Golden Hurricane moved to 4-5 on the season, while the Titans fell to 4-7 overall.
Williams recorded a team-high 19 points and 15 rebounds for her 34th career double-double, while Brooks added 12 points and 11 rebounds for her second career double-double. Chanice Scott also scored in double figures with 16 points, and Jermaine Kermis and Tatum Beer both notched nine points. Kermis tallied six assists and Williams registered three blocks.
TU jumped out to a 17-6 lead with nearly six minutes ticked off the clock and had a first-half high 13-point advantage with just under eight minutes remaining in the half. CSF pulled to within four, but a three-pointer by Beer gave the Golden Hurricane a 37-30 lead heading into the break.
Tulsa continued to inch ahead and a three-pointer by Kensey Hall gave TU a game-high 27-point advantage with just under three minutes remaining in the contest.
The Golden Hurricane shot 41.7-percent from the field, 63.8-percent from behind the arc and 64.7-percent from the charity stripe. TU out-rebounded Cal State Fullerton, 53-40, and combined for seven steals and six blocks.
The Titans were led by Lyndsey Grove with 24 points, while Jasmine Scott and Megan Richardson also scored in double figures with 12 and 10-points, respectively.
Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 2nd against McNeese State in Lake Charles, La. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Burton Coliseum.
