POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Senior forward Larrissa Williams scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead The University of Tulsa women's basketball team in a 69-52 loss at Marist Friday evening at the McCann Center.

Junior guard Jermaine Kermis scored nine points, and sophomore forward Tiffani Couisnard scored seven points and pulled down nine rebounds. Williams' double-double gave TU its third of the season and third in three games, all by different players.

The Golden Hurricane (3-3) shot 32 percent (20-of-63) in the game and held Marist (4-2) to just 36 percent shooting (22-of-61). TU enjoyed a 32-22 advantage in the paint, and an 18-10 advantage in points off turnovers, but was out-rebounded, 47-42. The Red Foxes hit on nine three pointers and hit 89 percent of their free throws (16-of-18), while the Hurricane made 12-of-25 free throws (48 percent) and no three pointers. Marist's Rachele Fitz, the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year, scored 28 points, shooting 56 percent from the floor.

Tulsa found itself in a scoring drought to open the second half, and facing a hot-shooting team coming out of the break. Marist opened the second period on a 15-4 run, opening a 21-point lead, 46-25, with 13:30 left in the game. The Golden Hurricane scored four of six points to close the gap to 15 points with 10-and-a-half minutes remaining, but the Red Foxes scored seven straight to take its largest lead of the game at 22 points, 57-35, with 9:25 left in the contest.

Once again, Tulsa fought until the very end, cutting the deficit to 15 points twice in the final nine minutes, but was unable to score enough to close the gap further, falling, 69-52.

Scoring was slow in the early going, and Tulsa trailed, 9-4, five minutes into the game. The Hurricane never led in the game, but stayed within five points through most of the first half. Marist gained a seven-point lead, 20-13, with 6:33 left in the half, and ended the half scoring 11 of 19 points. TU trailed by 10 at halftime, 3-21.
