Springfield, Mo. - Larrissa Williams netted her 32nd career double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Tulsa dropped an 88-73 decision to Missouri State on Tuesday night at the John Q. Hammons Arena in Springfield, Mo. The Golden Hurricane fell to 3-4 on the season, while the Bears moved to 5-3 overall.
Tatum Beer also scored in double-figures as she hit four three-pointers for 12 points, while Taleya Mayberry, Jermaine Kermis and Teka Brooks each had eight points. Mayberry and Kermis each picked up four assists, Kermis added four steals and Brooks posted three blocks.
In the first half, TU and MSU traded baskets and the Golden Hurricane had a 7-6 lead with 16:18 on the clock, but the Bears put together a 13-4 run in the following three minutes. Missouri State continued to increase the point spread, including a 22-point advantage with a little over six minutes remaining in the half, and took an 18-point lead into the break.
Tulsa out-scored MSU, 41-38, in the second half, but the Golden Hurricane couldn't make up the 18-point first-half deficit.
TU shot 39-percent from the field, 37-percent from behind the arc and 54-percent from the free throw line.
Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 12 to take on cross-town rival Oral Roberts. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
