Opening statement...
"I am really thrilled for our team tonight, we had a great effort by everybody. I know Jerome Jordan gets a lot of the publicity but my MVP of the game is Ray Reese. Stefon Jackson, the all-time leading scorer in UTEP history and Conference USA history, went 1-for-11 from the field and scored just 11 total points. Ray did a phenomenal job with a lot of help, but it was an outstanding individual defensive effort."
On Ray Reese's defensive play...
"I have been kidding the team at practice that I'm not voting for Jerome Jordan as defensive player of the year, I'm voting for Ray Reese. He has done a great job on the best wing players in our league."
On the end of the first half...
"A great point of us growing as a team is when you see Ben Uzoh go out with two fouls late in the first half, and we have an eight-point lead. Then when we go into halftime about four minutes later, we still have an eight-point lead. Glenn Andrews, Justin Hurtt and Ray Reese did a fantastic job of keeping the ship afloat and maintaining our lead."
