Volleyball Travels to UT Arlington Hilton invitational This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team travels to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex this weekend for the UT Arlington Hilton Invitational and the final pre-conference tournament of the season Friday and Saturday.
Tulsa plays at TCU Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the TCU University Rec Center. The Hurricane then plays Saturday at UTA against Arkansas State at 10:30 a.m. and Texas Southern at 5 p.m. at UTA's Texas Hall.

Tulsa (8-3), is hitting .290 as a team (510 kills-165 errors-1191 attempts), with 510 kills (13.78 k/set), 479 assists (12.95 a/s), 44 service aces, 533 digs (14.41 dig/s) and 74.0 total blocks (2.00 per set).
TCU (8-3) enters the tournament hitting .237 (551-206-1455) with 551 kills (12.52 k/s), 511 assists (11.61 a/s), 70 service aces, 660 digs (15.00 dig/s) and 117.0 total blocks (2.66 b/s).
Arkansas State (9-1) enters the weekend with a .228 attack percentage (456-158-1307), 456 kills (13.00 k/s), 419 assists (11.90 a/s), 61 service aces, 572 digs (16.34 dig/s) and 94.0 total blocks (2.69 b/s).
Texas Southern (4-6), is hitting .128 as a team (294-175-933), with 294 kills (8.40 k/s), 248 assists (7.09 a/s), 43 service aces, 357 digs (10.20 dig/s) and 41.0 total blocks (1.17 per set).
Tulsa is led by the on the outside by senior Jennifer Eichler, who has 151 kills (4.08 kills per set), a .347 attack percentage, 25 total blocks and 170.5 points for the Hurricane. Freshman Tyler Henderson has 135 kills (3.65 k/s), hits .317, has 12.0 blocks and has scored 142.0 points.
At middle blocker, junior Hannah Stout hits .441 with 101 kills and 29 blocks, while senior Julia Kenealy is hitting .327 with 45 kills, and leads the team with 42 total blocks. Freshman libero Jessica Adams leads the Hurricane with 182 digs (4.92 d/s) and has five service aces. Setters Rachel Vukson and Jordan Clampitt have 211 and 219 assists, respectively, and Clampitt adds 83 digs.
Tulsa and TCU have played 10 times; TCU leads, 7-3. The series was played regularly from 1996-2000 when both schools were part of the Western Athletic Conference. The Golden Hurricane and Horned Frogs played twice each year. TCU won the last six meetings, and TU won three of the first four, including both meetings in 1996.
Tulsa and Arkansas State have played 10 times; ASU leads, 4-2. The two programs have not played since 1986, and the first meeting was in 1976, TU's first season of volleyball. The Hurricane won the first match in 1976 and also in 1985, while ASU won the last meeting in 1986. Tulsa and Texas Southern have played twice; the series is tied, 1-1. The Tigers won the first meeting in 1992, and the Golden Hurricane won 3-0 in 2002.
