HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Tyler Henderson slammed 23 kills with a .500 attack percentage to lead The University of Tulsa volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep at Conference USA foe Southern Miss Friday evening at Reed Green Coliseum.

The Golden Hurricane led for nearly the entire match to win its 11th straight and move to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in C-USA play. All three league wins have come on the road. Southern Miss falls to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in C-USA.

Henderson committed just two attack errors in 42 swings to match her career-high hitting percentage. Jordan Clampitt tallied 37 assists and Jessica Adams led TU with 10 digs. Hannah Stout hit .375 with six kills, while Kelsey Hancock added eight kills and four blocks. Elizabeth Kale tallied five blocks, Diana Silva recorded seven kills and seven digs, and Kellie Culbertson contributed nine digs.

Tulsa hit .333 (47-10-111) with 47 kills against just 10 attack errors, 44 assists, four service aces, 46 digs and 8.0 blocks. TU held its opponent under .200 hitting for the third straight match, as Southern Miss hit .188 (38-17-112) with 38 kills, 38 assists, four aces, 47 digs and 5.0 blocks.

Fittingly, the Hurricane began the match with two kills by Henderson and, though it was close, held steady lead through the early portion of the first set. With the score tied, 11-11, TU scored two points to move ahead, 13-11, then eventually expanded the lead to, 16-13, and 20-14. Tulsa took a seven-point lead at 22-15, but Southern Miss came back to make the score, 24-23, before Silva got the final kill to win, 25-23.

Tulsa trailed for the only stretch of the match early in set two, falling behind 2-0 to begin, but finally re-taking the lead, 11-10. The Golden Hurricane then moved out to a, 15-11, advantage, and held the lead until an, 18-18, tie. Two points later, TU led, 20-18, and never let go, as it went on to win for the second straight set by a score of, 25-23.

TU left no doubt in the third set, storming to a, 6-0, advantage to begin the frame, and then expanding the lead to 11-3. Holding steady to its lead of between five and seven points, the Hurricane took a, 15-10, advantage and closed out the match with a 10-point streak, to run away from the Golden Eagles, 25-10. Clampitt served out the final nine points, while Tulsa got two blocks, two Hancock kills, another kills from Henderson, and a pair of USM attack errors to close out the set.

The Golden Hurricane returns home Sunday for a match against C-USA rival Tulane at 1 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
