TU Coach Doug Wojcik
Opening statement...
"That was just a great win for us against a team that had been in every game for the most part. They won on the road at Pepperdine and won on the road at Houston. For us to have just 48 hours after such a thriller on Tuesday and play so well tonight, you always have concerns about your legs and the kids thinking about Christmas, but they really responded and I can, obviously, go down the list of guys, but I think everyone contributed in their own individual way. I'm really pleased. I think we're a good team. We're almost through December and early December hadn't been kind to us. I'm really pleased to get to go home and let the kids enjoy Christmas."
On Justin Hurtt's three-game 30-point streak...
"I'm really proud of him. It's really cool that it's Willie Biles' streak because I just absolutely love Willie Biles. I'm really proud that we honor his number in the rafters. Justin's really playing at a high level. He's really prepared himself. He's really in charge of his life. His academics are in such a great order, it's incredible. I think when you don't have many worries and too much stress, good things are going to happen. He's put his time in and I'm just really proud of him as a leader. He's done a really nice job on our team."
TU senior Justin Hurtt
On 30-point game streak...
"It's an honor to know that I'm in that club with a guy like Willie Biles, who was a really good player here. It feels good. It feels even better to get another win, especially before we go into a break. Hopefully, we can keep it going from here."
On how the Wichita State game changed the team's mindset...
"We know we can score the ball. That's not really the problem. It's more on the defensive end. Getting stops, rebounding, finishing plays on the defensive end."
TU junior Steven Idlet
On having a less stressful game than the string of recent close games...
"It was really nice to come out and play well right before the break and take this momentum over to the next game."
On establishing his inside game early in the game...
"That was Coach's gameplan from the start. I know I have to play well. We have to be balanced on the offensive attack, so we play inside-out. That was one of the main themes of the game."
UTSA Coach Bobby Thompson
Opening statement...
"That wasn't quite what we were expecting coming in here, but I feel like The University of Tulsa played one heck of a basketball game. They were very well coached. They shot the ball very well. I think our basketball team did a lot of uncharacteristic things that they haven't done so far this year. I think Tulsa's athleticism and physicality did some things to our guys that kind of made them do some of those uncharacteristic things. With that being said, it's a very disappointing way to go into Christmas, but we got beat by the better team tonight."
On Tulsa's 3-point shooting...
"It was pretty big. It was hard to guard. Those guys came out and hit some tough shots. I felt like we knew in transition some of the things they were going to do with running Haralson and Hurtt off of some of those screens. I don't feel like our guys got through them and contested them well enough. On the flip side of that, I think they hit some tough, contested shots where you just say, `Wow, that was a tough shot,' and have to move forward. But those guys shot the lights out. I think our defense probably had something to do with that, but I think that they're pretty good basketball players too."
On how establishing Idlet inside helps TU's overall game...
"It always does. That's what's going to happen when you have a post presence like that that you have to guard and dig down on, you're going to open up some things. We thought about doubling, but we didn't feel like we were able to because obviously we were going to try to protect the 3-point line a little bit better. Every time you have a post presence like Idlet, it's going to free up the guards."
