Tulsa Drops 86-73 Decision to La Salle

Philadelphia, Pa. - The University of Tulsa women's basketball team dropped an 86-73 decision to La Salle on Sunday afternoon at the Tom Gola Arena in Philadelphia, Pa. TU fell to 2-4 on the season, while the Explorers moved to 3-4 overall.
Loren McDaniel scored her first career double-double as she tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds in the contest. Tatum Beer recorded a team-leading 18 points, while Taleya Mayberry and Jermaine Kermis added nine points each. Mayberry notched seven assists, while Mayberry, Amanda Mason and Kermis had three steals.
TU out-rebounded La Salle, 43-39, and had an 11-10 advantage in steals. Both teams had 21 turnovers. The Golden Hurricane shot 36-percent from the field and 70-percent from the charity stripe.
LU jumped out to an early 14-0 lead as Tulsa was scoreless for the first 5:07 off the clock. Mayberry and Lewis each had a layup and Kermis scored on a free throw to make it 14-5 just 1:32 later, but the Explorers took a 12-point advantage (38-26) into the break.
The Golden Hurricane came out stronger in the second half, scoring nearly double the points, but couldn't overcome the first half deficit for the final 13-point loss.
The Explorers were led by five players in double digits, including Ashley Gale who posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards, while Michea Bryant had 16 points, Ebonee Jones added 15 points, and Jess Koci and Chelsea Conner tallied 14 points.
Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 11th against Texas A&M International. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
