Tulsa Advances Five Boats to the Finals at USRowing Championship

West Windsor, N.J. - The University of Tulsa women's rowing team advanced five boats after today's races, and will take 13 boats to the finals tomorrow at the USRowing Collegiate Championship at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. TU will compete in seven events in the finals, including the Collegiate 1x, Lightweight 1x, Open 2x, Lightweight 2x, Open 4x, Collegiate 8+ and Lightweight 8+.
Tulsa's Carla Horne and Katie Holtvogt each raced a single in the Heats, turning in times of 8:57.49 and 9:10.88, respectively, advancing both boats to the finals. The duo then jumped into a double, and claimed a second-place time of 8:19.02 in their heat to take that boat to the final as well.
Allyson Brooks and Meredith Papps combined for the Collegiate 2x `A'. The tandem was third in their heat and second in the repechage, and will compete in the final tomorrow.
Natalie Hall coxed Kelly Hill, Megan Fitzpatrick, Jacqueline Malleo and Rebecca Stangl to a fifth-place time of 8:16.53 in their heat and a second-place time of 8:58.15 in the repechage to qualify for the finals as TU's Collegiate 4+ `B'.
"We raced pretty well today," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "It was a good first day and tomorrow we'll see where we stand as we take 13 boats to the finals. It will also be the final day of racing for our three seniors - Krysti Knoche, Aidan Leddy and Malleo. They have done a lot of great things in their time at Tulsa, so it will be nice to see them race one more time."
