Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa junior rower Stephanie Rogers was named to the CRCA first-team all-South Region squad, it was announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA).
Rogers has been an integral member of the Varsity-8 boat this year. These awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains from each of the five regions, organized into first and second-team selections.
In the 14-year history of the Tulsa rowing program, Rogers is the seventh Tulsa rower in school history to earn all-region accolades and the first since Michelle Sechser earned second team accolades in 2007.
"It's been four years since we have had an athlete selected as a CRCA South Region performer," said Tulsa Head Coach Kevin Harris. "Stephanie is a remarkable young woman in many ways. As a five-year veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, she doesn't need to prove anything to anybody. The fact is, she is incredibly intelligent and loves to work hard and she has become a valuable leader on our team. We love having her here and I was glad to see that the coaches on the regional committee saw the value that she has added to the Tulsa Rowing program."
Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75-percent of races this season.
These athletes will be eligible for All-America awards selection following the NCAA Rowing Championships. The NCAA regatta will be held May 28-30 on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, C.A.
